Baking for your pets can be a great way to have fresh high value treats. If you like baking, it can be a fun way to bond with your dog or cat. If your pet is on a specialized or prescription diet, please check with your vet before trying any new treats.
Many dogs enjoy peanut butter. Peanut butter can be a great base ingredient for making your own dog treats. Just be sure that your peanut butter does not contain any birch sugar or xylitol. Here is a recipe that both my dog and I enjoy. If you have peanut allergies in your home, you can use sunflower seed butter instead of peanut butter.
If you are making your treats in silicone molds, using a creamy peanut butter will give you a better smooth fill that doesn’t look lumpy when finished.
Peanut Butter Applesauce Dog Muffins

Spoon into silicone molds for fun shaped treats or drop onto a cookie sheet for muffin top treats.
Bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes. Allow to cool before sharing. If using silicone molds, place them on a cookie sheet to prevent the bottom of the muffins from burning.
